The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) will organise a nationwide grassroots football jamboree and talent search to gather enough talents for the forthcoming summer camp.
Ebrima Nyassi the GFF Grassroots Football Coordinator said the idea is to get the best U-12 and U-15 talents in the country, starting with Banjul, Kanifing Municipality and West Coast Region.
“We are going for a talent hunt to get the best players who we think can be developed to benefit the country in future. We will be starting with Banjul, KM and West Coast on 6-7 July 2019 at the Goal Project in Yundum. We will be having the Under 12 both Boys and Girls on the 6th and on the 7th we look at the Under 15 Boys and Girls.”
According to Nyassi, the next edition of the jamboree will be held at the Soma Mini Stadium in LRR where they will have a similar event eyemarked for the regions. He said boys and girls from North Bank, Central River, Upper River and Lower River Regions scheduled from the 13 to 14th July,2019
The program is expected to bring together 240 with 60 kids from each of the seven administrative regions.
This is part of the GFF’s strategic technical program where grassroots football plays a key role to catching them young and the mantra of bottom up approach.
