The Gambia Football Federation regrets to announce that a vehicle carrying fans embedded in the welcome ceremony of the National U-20 team (Young Scorpions) was involved in an accident that claimed the life of one person Edrissa Marr popularly called Master.
The vehicle follows the lineup of the convoy with the U20 team while driving to Banjul from Bakau along the Old Cape Point bridge when it drove beyond the bridge and eventually plunged into the river. Ten people were on board and nine of them were rescued while one Edrissa Marr (Master) went missing and later pronounced death.
Marr, is a founding member of Lamin Jawara fan club in Yundum and has been instrumental in the boy’s career. The vehicle and its passengers came to take part in the welcome parade and later joined in the procession carrying fans and supporters of Young Scorpions player Lamin Jawara.
The Gambia Football Federation regrets this unfortunate incident while sending its deepest condolences and sympathy to the family of the deceased, friends and love ones. Meanwhile the GFF led by President Lamin Kaba Bajo, has visited all the people involved in the accident at their various homes in Yundum after attending the burial of the late Edirissa Marr who was laid to rest on Wednesday 2nd December 2020.
