The President of The Gambia Football Federation, Mr. Lamin Kaba Bajo, over the weekend presented referees uniforms to members of the regional Football Associations through their Presidents.

The presentation, which also include footballs to members of the Executive Committee, was held at the Football House in Kanifing. A similar presentation will be made to the The Gambia Football Referees Association.

The total of the referee gears to be presented include 80 dark blue pants, 80 dark blue jackets, 320 T-shirts of four colours (orange, pink, yellow and ash), 317 black shorts, 38 whistles, 15 pairs of assistant referees’ flags and 201 cards (red and yellow). The materials are meant to benefit the elite A and elite B referees as well as regional referees and referees’ assessors.

Mr. Seedy Manneh, the referees’ manager of the GFF, highlighted that the materials came at the right time as this will go a long way in preparing the referees to execute their duties as expected.

He explained further that the elite A category will receive 45 uniforms of all colours (four sets) whereas elite B referees will receive 35 uniforms of two sets and two colours. He further explained that 35 uniforms of two sets in two colours, the 15 pairs of assistant referees’ flags, 38 referee whistles, 201 cards, and 110 referee shirts will all go to the regional referees, whereas the track suits will be given to the elite A referees and assessors.

The Gambia currently has 16 FIFA referees, 12 male and 4 women. This includes 9 assistants and seven central referees.
