The Gambia Football Federation is hosting Mrs Monika Staab, FIFA Instructor and women’s football expert from Germany who will be in the country to assist the GFF on the development of women’s football.
Monika arrived in the country at the beginning of the week and is expected to stay in the Smiling Coast for two months.
During her sojourn, Monika is expected to hold engagements with the GFF Women’s Football Association and their structures as part of her itinerary to maximize the growth and advancement of women’s football in the country. Monika will also be visiting the Female national Team’s training sessions and hold clinics with all female league clubs in Div 1 and 2. As part of her plans, Monika will also be engaging the schools system in the mantra to “Catch them young”.
Monika is widely regarded as the pioneer of women’s football in Germany. A UEFA Pro License holder, she was in charge of FFC Frankfurt and helped them to domestic and international glory whilst working both as coach and President of the team. She now works as a FIFA instructor touring different countries in a bid to popularize women’s football.
On Monday, Monika visited the GFF Offices in Kanifing to chat with the President. Lamin Kabba Bajo formerly welcomed the German football expert and assured her of Gambia Football Federation’s willingness to support her program during the period.
