Gambia and Sporting Huelva forward Fatoumata Kanteh has sent a message of support and motivation to her teammates ahead of their first leg encounter with the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon.

Kanteh will miss Friday’s first leg due to academic commitments but is expected to fly into Banjul in time for the return encounter five days later. She put up a star of the match performance on her debut against Sierra Leone scoring in the 1-1 draw in Bakau’s Independence Stadium. That scoreline was enough to see the Queen Scorpions through to the final round of the African Women’s Cup of Nations qualifiers following a first leg away win played in Liberia.

“I just wanted to send you a lot of encouragement for the match, Cameroon’s list shouldn’t s scare us at all, just respect them and go out to give everything and fight with your hearts,” she said in a message sent to her colleagues today. “But always with your heads and don’t stop working for the 90 minutes of the game, go out to complicate their lives without giving them any opportunity.”
