The Scorpions will open their Group D Qualifiers of the Total Africa Cup of Nations 2019 away to Benin in June 2017 by the weekend of 9th-11th as revealed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The Gambia will later have successive home games to Algeria in March 2018 and Togo in September 2018 before their return leg to the Sparrow Hawks in a compact schedule fixture slated for September and at home to Benin in October 2018. The Gambia will cap off its qualifiers with an away game to Algeria in November.
The winner in each group will join the hosts Cameroon in the finals of the Total Africa Cup of Nations 2019. The Gambia is in Group D of the Qualifiers of the Africa Cup of Nations 2019 with Algeria (The Desert Foxes), Togo (The Sparrow Hawks) and Benin (The Squirrels). Algeria and Togo were both participants at the previous AFCON in Gabon although both made an exit following the group stages.
