Gambia National Women’s Scorpions are due in Banjul early Monday morning 9th April after their hard fought 2-1 loss away to Burkina Faso in the opening leg of the AWCON Qualifier Match played over the weekend in Ouagadogou.

Gambia scored through Adama TAMBA in the first period after a well connected and beautiful interchange of pass from twin partner AWA TAMBA who earlier on hit the post with her thunderous trade mark long range.

The visitors controlled most part of the game and dictate possession but however were thwarted by Burkinabe huge defenders before they made amends for star player Simpore to equalled the scoring just before the break.

Play resumed at half time and the Gambia though cautious at the back, could not stop Amie JARJU from been sent off due to second booking and the hosts strengthened their numerical advantage for Sampore to add the scoring to 2-1 and her double for the night.

The Women’s Scorpions are due home Monday morning and will hosts Burkina Faso on Tuesday afternoon at the Independence Stadium in Bakau at 4:30pm.
