The Gambia Local Based (CHAN) Team continue to gear up for the forth coming West Africa Football Union (WAFU) tournament scheduled to begin from 28th September to 12th October 2019 in Thies, Senegal.
Ahead of the West African Championships, active participants Gambia are on the verge of concluding its local preparation with another practice match held on Thursday 19th September to League Div One side Tallinding United at a goal less draw held at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.

The Wafu bound side dominated possession though but could not find their goal scoring stint as Tallinding United were stingy at the back blocking all offenses. Unlimited substitutions though effected from both sides as Coach Omar Sise continue to bring on his charges to test their game approach.
The Match one of a series for the team ended goal less and now resulting to one draw of recent and two previous wins against the Tallinding based Div One outfit.
The Wafu bound team is expected to go into camp on Monday 23rd September at Football Hotel in Yundum while the team winds up logistical arrangements before leaving for Senegal on Wednesday 25th September, 2019. According to Coach Omar Sise, the final list and officials for the tournament would be named in the coming days.
The Gambia will open its account to Ghana in the Knock Out phase on 28th September for the winner to progress to the Group proper while the looser will also have the opportunity to be part of another contest for Knock out losers all been part of this year’s edition of the WAFU tournament in partnership with Fox Sports.
