The Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) bounced back from their humiliating 5-2 drubbing to Wallidan with a 1-0 defeat of Real de Banjul at the Independence Stadium on Thursday night.

Kabiro Joof headed in the game’s only goal on the hour mark to give his side the three points. Sheikh Omar Saho received a lofted effort before he lifted the ball over the advancing Ebrima Jarju for Joof to head into an unguarded net. The goal came after Sanna Jarjue’s tame penalty kick was saved by Real custodian Ebrima. The win moved GAF to fifth on 30 points while Real remains fourth with 32 points.

In the early kick-off, leaders Fortune Petroleum were held to a goalless stalemate by the resurgent Tallinding United. With the draw, Tallinding is now 11th on the 14-team table with 20 points while Fortune is a 11 ahead of second place Elite United who do not play Waa Banjul until Sunday.

Meanwhile, matches continue tonight with the division’s most in-form side Wallidan taking on Brikama United at 8pm. The Sateyba Boys are winless in five outings while the Blue Boys won five from their last seven.

Banjul United will take on Hawks in the late game. The Banjul based outfit are 12th position with 19 points, only 3 points clear of basement side BK Milan while Hawks is at 10th.
