The President of Federation International Du Football Corporatif (FIFCO) Mr Albert Zbily on Monday February 5th, visited the Offices of the Gambia Football Federation in Kanifing for a courtesy call.
Accompanied by his Gambian associate Lamin Sanneh, Albert was received at the Football House by GFF 2nd Vice President Ebou Faye who welcomed him to The Gambia and thanked him for the visit.
FIFCO according to Albert is operating in 56 countries and encourages companies to be active in football, increases team spirit amongst other priority areas.
‘My reason for coming to The Gambia is to build partnerships with companies in local Football and encourage the different companies to embrace Football and to also create a link for co-operation in Referees’ development.
GFF 2nd VP Ebou Faye said the gesture is great and the GFF will at all cost embrace the initiative. He said although such tournaments are in place in The Gambia, they could be maximized better so that FIFCO could be a major player while according to him the GFF would be an oversight body. ‘The structure is already in place but could be harnessed better to give it a clearer direction’.
FIFCO is the world governing body of corporate football, with headquarters in Montréal, Canada. Their aim is to promote corporate football leagues, tournaments and events around the world. Regulating the game with modified rules and format, FIFCO seeks to insure a safe playing environment and an encouragement to a healthy and active lifestyle.
FIFCO believes that football is a medium to unite working professionals and to create networking opportunities while encouraging a healthy lifestyle amongst its members. In the world of corporate social responsibility, corporations must insure their employees health and well being. Football represents the best sport to encourage a total cardio-vascular workout, while promoting the interests of their firms.
FIFCO recently announced the first World Corporate Champions Cup to take place in 2018 and to be hosted in Canada.
