A FIFA delegation led by its Secretary General, Fatma Samoura, yesterday had a stopover in Banjul where she held meetings with officials of The Gambia Football Federation (GFF).
Ms. Samora, who was accompanied to the country by Elhadji Wack, the regional FIFA Development Officer based in Dakar, Senegal, held development project meetings with the GFF hierarchy and also to get first hand information of the expansion works currently underway at the Football Hotel in Old Yundum.
These expansions include a new grass pitch, building a mini stadium that will be named the Late Biri Biri Mini Stadium, once completed, a swimming pool that would be accompanied with a state-of-the-art bar and restaurant is funded through the FIFA Forward Program.
The delegation was met on arrival at the Banjul International Airport by the President of the GFF, Mr. Lamin Kaba Bajo, First Vice President Mr. Bakary K. Jammeh, who doubles as GFF’s FIFA Project Manager, Sadibou Kamaso an Executive Committee Member and the General Secretary Mr. Lamin M. Jassey.
The delegation was ushered to the Football Hotel facility from the airport where they had Iftar together and held the high-level meeting. Ms. Samoura expressed her delight with the work at Football Hotel and congratulated the GFF for the impressive developments.
