The second round in the domestic second division season got underway on Wednesday with Falcons and Samger playing a goalless stalemate in a top-of-the-table clash at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.
The two sides currently lead the way in the 16-team division with the former on top of the log with 35 points, two ahead of second place Samger. The Cherno Samba Academy Boys were on top heading into the final match day in the first round but were held at their track with a pulsating 3-3 draw with Team Rhino.
Meanwhile, in another direct rivalry in a Kombo South derby between third place Jam City and their neighbours in Gunjur United, the two sides played a drab goalless stalemate at the Late Ousman Saho Football Field in Old Yundum. Jam City has 30 points from 16 matches while Gunjur is on 27.
Team Rhino defeated Jarra West 4-2 in Soma to cut the gap between them and Gunjur to just one points while Jarra West remains second from bottom, just two points above basement side 2nd Infantry Battalion, who do not play Immigration until Sunday.
Matches continue on Thursday 29th April 2021, when ninth place Red Hawks lock horns with Bombada in six at the Late Ousman Saho Field. A win for Red Hawks will see them leapfrog their Brikama-based rivals while victory for the latter takes them to within a solitary point off Rhino.
