GFF EXECUTIVE MEMBERS

LAMIN KABA BAJO - PRESIDENT

Kaba Played Football in school and help formed, mentored and managed many Grassroots Football teams in Brikama. Current President of B.K. Milan Football Club of Bakau, he holds a Master’s Degree in Diplomatic Studies from the University of Leicester, United Kingdom. A retired Army Captain, he served many diplomatic and cabinet portfolios including the Minister of Youth and Sports (1997 -1998). He is a member of FIFA Players’ Tribunal and CAF AFCON Organising Committee.

BAKARY K. JAMMEH - 1ST VICE PRESIDENT

Bakary has been involved in Club Management since 1988, and is currently Vice President of Real de Banjul. He’s a member of CAF age category AFCON Organising Committees. Served in many GFA, cum, GFF sub committees. Ex-Managing Director of Elton Oil, Head of Investment Department Social Security, Head of Accounts & Administration MRC and Ex-Interim Mayor of Kanifing Municipality. Currently a board member of various State-owned Enterprises, Bakary holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside, UK in addition to many Professional Accounting Qualifications.

EBOU FAYE - 2ND VICE PRESIDENT

Ebou played football at school, national league and semi-professional in Norway. He coached GPA to promotion from 3rd division to 2nd division. He also coached in the 1st division and has worked as a sports journalist. Ebou is currently the Team Manager/Secretary General of Banjul United and the General Manager of the Independence Stadium and Friendship Hotel. He graduated from the South Bank University in England with a Master’s Degree in Development Studies.

NUMUKUNDA KANYI - 3RD VICE PRESIDENT

Numukunda Kanyi is an established businessman and the CEO of Maggi’s Lodge in Bansang. He’s also a board member of both the Bansang Hospital and the Bansang Senior School. He obtains a Diploma in Accountancy from the GTTI. A former footballer at school and regional level in the CRR. Mba, as he is fondly called, was an ex-Station Manager for Elton Oil. He’s been involved in football management since 2007 and under his presidency at the CRRFA, a team from that part of the country qualified for a place in the national league, in Medical, FC for the very first time ever.

SAINABOU CHAM- 4TH VICE PRESIDENT

Ms. Sainabou Cham is an embodiment of women football. She is an alumnus of the FIFA Female Leadership Development. She did her UEFA/FIFA Women in Football Leadership course in Amsterdam, Netherlands. She played football with City Girls and became the Assistant Manager of Eye Tech Optics before returning to the former as its Assistant Coach in 2008 and the Team Manager in 2015.

ISHMAEL S. CEESAY - EXCO MEMBER

Mr. Ismaila S. Ceesay is currently the President of both School Football Association and Secondary School Sports Association as well as the Principal of Bansang Senior Secondary School. He holds a Master’s Degree in Education Policy and Management. Mr. Ceesay is a renowned educationist and has spent the entirety of his professional career in the field and is a great enthusiast of grassroots and school football.

JOHN FRANK MENDY - EXCO MEMBER

John Frank Mendy is a retired FIFA referee between 2003 and 2008 where he officiated numerous FIFA World Cup, Olympics and CAF football competitions and won the SJAG Best Referees Award in 2007. He started his career in 1994 before hanging up his whistle in 2014. That same year, he was appointed into the GFF Referees Committee and spent four years as a FIFA Referees Instructor until recently when he took up the position of an instructor. Since 2019, he has been the President of The Gambia Football Referees Committee. John is also a CAF Referee Assessor.

MAIMUNA KANTEH - EXCO MEMBER

Maimuna has 18 years practical experience in women’s football administration. She was first elected into a management position in 2002 as Treasurer of the Brikama Youth and Sports Committee. She is also the female representative of the West Coast Regional Football Association and has a Olympic Solidarity Certificate in Sports Administration in 2007.

ARET NJIE-JAH - EXCO MEMBER

Her passionate for football knows no bounds. Until recently, one of the few parents who’d support their children’s choice of football over anything. Aret played football at school and is currently a FIFA and CAF Match Commissioner. She has over three decades experience in the hospitality industry where she served in various managerial positions.

COLONEL MUSA M. JAMMEH - CO-OPTED MEMBER

A former National Team player. Musa holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy (Magna Cum Lude) from the UTG and is currently the Director of Finance at Gambia Armed Forces. He’s a product of school football and an ex-captain of Saraba, Wallidan and GAF Football Clubs, and a league winner in the latter two. Amongst several military accolades, he also served in the GAMCOY 1 Mission in Darfur, Sudan. Colonel Jammeh is a Board Member of GAF FC and President of Falcons FC. He bankrolled their rise from the Serrekunda East Nawettan to the domestic 1st division. He’s also a FIFA/CAF security officer.

MODOU OUSAINOU NJIE - CO-OPTED MEMBER

Vice President of Hawks Football Club since 2016, Modou is the CEO of HMM Trading Enterprise. The Former General Manager of TAF Gambia Tours has many years business experience both in The Gambia and the UK. Modou also holds a BSc in Business Management from Wolverhampton University, UK, with advanced IT skills.

RAMOU NDOW - CO-OPTED MEMBER

Born and brought up in Barra in the North Bank Region, Ramou played football in school and later spent nine years as a player for Lower Nuimi. After hanging up her boots, she moved into management and since 2014, she’s been the chairperson of the NBRFA Women’s Football Committee. She worked in the advancement of women and youth sectors and served as the President of the National Coordination of Working Children and Youth of The Gambia for five years. Ramou Is currently the First Vice President of the Women’s Football Association.

CHUMBAN FAYE - CO-OPTED MEMBER

Chumban Faye is no stranger in Gambian football. From the local Nawettan to league football and national team matters, her presence in our national game is felt everywhere. Currently an Executive member of the KMRFA, Chumban started her career in sports management at the Serrekunda East Sports Committee as a co-opted member. She’s also a member of the GFF Protocol Committee.

MODOU SOWE - PRESIDENT, BANJUL RFA

A highly respected retired referee, on November 25, 2022, Modou Sowe will turn 59 years. Born in the Gambian capital, Banjul, Sowe became a FIFA Referee in the 1990s and participated in three African Cup of Nations finals in Tunisia 2004, Egypt 2006 and Ghana in 2008. He officiated many FIFA World Cup qualifying games and was on the preliminary list of the 2006 World Cup in Germany. In retirement, Modou Sowe is a businessman and founder of MSTE Printing. He’s the President of the Banjul Regional Football Association.

MUSTAPHA JALLOW - PRESIDENT, KMRFA

Young, passionate, industrious and enterprising with a keen business acumen, Mustapha Jallow is a football man through and through. He helped formed Team Rhino Football Club in Sukuta Nema, starting as an academy side. Through his leadership, the team transcends from a regional third division team from the Kanifing region to the national league and has since reached the top flight of Gambian football. Mustapha in May, 2022, was elected as the President of the Kanifing Municipality Regional Football Association. He served in many capacities in football including match commissioner and a member of the GFF Organising Committee.

BAKARY BOJANG - PRESIDENT, WCRFA

A native of Jambanjelly village, Bakary Bojang is one of the great sons of West Coast Region. He served for eight years as the first Vice President of the West Coast Regional Football Association and played a critical role in establishing the region as arguably one of the best regional football associations in the country. In 2020, he became the President of the Region and has since consolidated those gains registered in the region. During his time as a member of the WCRFA Executive Committee, they became the first regional FA to establish a regional women’s third division league in The Gambia.

ABOU KHAN - PRESIDENT, NBRFA

Born in Kuntaya village of the Jokadou District in the North Bank Region, Abou Khan enrolled at the Teacher Training College in Brikama where he obtained his Primary Teachers Certificate (PTC) in 2001 and a Higher Teachers Certificate (HTC) in 2009. Besides teaching, Mr. Khan is an ardent sports development volunteer at his local community. Having served his village and its environs to an effective sports development success, he later rose through the ranks to the position of District Sports Chairman in Jokadu for fifteen years. Before that, he played football where he captained his district. He was first vice president of the North Bank Regional Football Association until his election as the head in 2017.

ANSUMANA SANNEH - PRESIDENT, LRRFA

Ansumana Sanneh holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Management as well as a post-graduated Diploma in Special Need Education. He joined The Gambia Teacher Training College where he specialised in Physical Education. Upon completion, he returned home to serve his community where he has introduced sports, football in particular, amongst hundreds of students. He first catapulted to the helm of affairs in LRR in 2014 following the demise of his predecessor Mr. Wandifa Kinteh. A football man through and through, Mr. Sanneh played football during his school days as a goalkeeper and played in several Nawettan competitions. After hanging his boots, he went straight into sports administration.

MASANEH JAWARA - PRESIDENT, URRFA

Masaneh was born in Kerewan Nyakoi in the Upper River Region. He obtained his O’Level from Nassir Senior Secondary School before attaining his PTC and HTC from The Gambia College by the year 2004. He has been an Agricultural Extension Worker in the region since. Mr. Jawara has been in sports administration for well over two decades now, especially in athletics and football. He’s a founder first Vice President of the URRFA in 2013 and in September this year, following the death of his long-time allay and colleague, Joseph Furumus Gomez, Jawara ascended to the Presidency. He was also a district Sports Chairman for Wulli West for eight years.

LAMIN M. JASSEY - GENERAL SECRETARY

A former Administrative Secretary and an Executive Committee member of then The Gambia Football Association, Jassey has a strong passion and good pedigree in football administration dating back to his days at high school. He was elected into the GFA Executive Committee representing the LRR. He left for studies in the United Kingdom where he bagged a MA in International Development from University of Birmingham. He also attained a BA (Hons) in Public Sociology.
Mr. Jassey worked in the youth sector in England. During his formative years, he also worked as a field assistant with the Medical Research Council and a regional supplement coordinator at The Gambia Food and Nutrition Unit.
Described by his family, friends and close acquaintances as a very effective and pro-active individual, Jassey is the General Secretary of the GFF and also served as the Secretary to the Executive Committee. He’s the head of the GFF Secretariat.
