The representative of the European Union at a women football festival and symposium organised by The Gambia Football Federation (GFF), Enya Braun, has expressed gratitude to the GFF, through its President, Mr. Lamin Kaba Bajo for its efforts in promoting women football in The Gambia.

While describing the Federation’s efforts in the crusade as exciting, she also encouraged the older generation of women to keep motivating the younger ones. She was speaking on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of the one-day event at the National Technical Training Center in Yundum.

The President of the GFF, Mr. Bajo, also expressed gratitude to the EU, German expert on women football, Ms. Monika Staab, the women’s football coordinator at the GFF, and its women football ambassadors for the support towards achieving this important occasion.

Bajo said the potentials of women in football are numerous and the GFF will do its best to empower women and promote football at all levels. He encouraged the participants, boys and girls to take up football very seriously as a tool to eliminate poverty while wishing to see a lot of them in various clubs and teams.

Six winners were announced who were all presented with prizes, which includes Tee shirts, football socks and scarfs. The award ceremony was brought to an end with a group photo.
