Gambia’s champions Brikama United will face off with Raja Casablanca in the preliminary rounds of the CAF Champions League after the draw for Africa’s flagship competition was held in Cairo over the weekend.
The first leg of the double-legged tie will be held in the weekend of the 9th, 10th and 11th August, 2019 in Banjul while the second and deciding leg would be held in the Moroccan economic city of Casablanca in September.
This will be Brikama’s second outing in the competition. The Sateba side won their first domestic title in 2012 and they competed in the competition and had an unforgettable run in as they reached the second round after defeating Ouakam of Senegal on penalties and losing to Esperance de Tunis of Tunisia 4-1 on aggregate.
The Federation Cup Champions Real de Banjul had qualified to participate in the CAF Confederations Cup but didn’t register for the competition.
