The Gambia and Bissau ended their double headers on Monday August 19th when the visitors narrowly won the hosts one nil at the stroke of added on time to deny the Gambia a double win over Bissau.
Fans anticipation of more goals from the Baby Scorpions weren’t forth coming as Bissau made amendments on their start list while reserving a lot from the first match. This however was countered by Gambia’s Coach Abdoulie Bojang when he brought in ebullient and nimble footed players like Abdoulie Baldeh, Alassana Yirijang and Kebba Jawara to add his firing powers but poor finishing at up front cost the Baby Scorpions although commentators credited it to Bissau’s defense discipline.

Bissau boosts into jubilation after the final whistle celebrating a deserved win over the Gambia taking home a proud result. Coach Alfa Umaru Baldeh said a post Mortem of the first game was done and they reviewed how the Gambia played. “We studied the first match and realized our errors and that is why we could perform this kind of work and eventually a win. I am very happy with the performance because the boys have listened and stick to our game plan”, he said.
Gambia’s Lie Bojang’s post match reactions didnt change as he told journalists “it was not a bad game looking at the tactical behavior of Guinea Bissau. They played behind the ball and they didn’t come out to play and were playing direct ball”. He said the Gambia had chances that could have been capitalized upon but flops at goal front. “We made a mistake and they capitalized on that and scored us. We are trying to build up a team and I am happy with the performance of the boys and really they played well,” he stated.
He thanked the Gambia Football Federation for organising the game. ” The Technical Director told me to draw up a plan and future training schedule for the team. So we will do that, to training have some days training every month and we are going to invite other players especially from the schools that participate in the Principal’s Cup”, he concluded.
