A delegation of Guinea Bissau Football Federation led by 1st Vice President, Bonifacio Malam Sanha called on the GFF President Lamin Kaba Bajo on Friday, 6th January 2020 at the Football House in Kanifing as a Special Envoy of the newly elected President of Guinea Bissau Football Federation, Carlos Alberto Mendes Texeira.
Speaking on the occasion, Bonifacio Malam Sanha first thanked the GFF President for accepting their request to be in Banjul at the shortest possible time. He congratulated Mr Bajo for the giant strides achieved for the growth and advancement of football in the Gambia. “Kaba has shaped the image of Gambian football and we at Bissau are proud of his achievements.”
The delegation delivered a letter from the President of the Guinea Bissau Football Federation informing President Bajo of his intention to visit The Gambia with a view to learn from The Gambia Football Federation’s experience and also to discuss the further strengthening and expansion of the bilateral relations between the two sister federations.
In response, Mr Bajo thanked the delegation and expressed gratitude for the gesture. He first congratulated the newly installed Guinea Bissau FF President, Carlos Alberto Mendes Texeira on his election to the top echelon of football in the former Portuguese colony. Bajo requested the delegation to convey his acceptance of the proposal of his colleague and brother to visit The Gambia at his earliest convenience.
“The relationship between our two countries is very close and we should continue to use football to strengthen it more because the Gambia and Guinea Bissau enjoy a very cordial relationship.”
Both sides agreed that the visit will be an opportunity for the formalization of the bilateral relationship between the two federations by way of a Cooperation Agreement which will spell out the various areas of cooperation between them.
