The President of Senegalese Football Federation Me Augustine Senghore has offered on behalf of the football family in Senegal his condolences on the passing of Gambia’s football icon late Alh Momodou Njie (Biri Biri) who died on Sunday 19th July 2020 at a local Hospital in Dakar, Senegal.
Senghore joined the array of sympathizers from all walks of life both in the Gambia and Diaspora who paid tribute to “Gambia’s All Time Best Footballer” late Biri Biri Njie who was given a befitting send off on Wednesday 22nd July 2020 for his final abode at a National Funeral held at the Banjul Arch.
Writing through his Gambian counterpart LAMIN Kaba BAJO, the FSF Boss wrote, “On behalf of the Members of our Executive Committee, and entire Senegalese football family, we extend our deepest condolences to the family of Biri Biri and to the Gambia Football Federation”. Senghore eulogized Biri Biri as the most prominent and first big Star in Gambia football history.
“Biri will forever remain in the heart of Senegalese football family. He gained the respect and the admiration of his team mates and football lovers as he always fought very fiercely when he wore the national jersey”.
The late Biri Njie passed on Sunday 19th July and was laid to rest on Wednesday 22nd July 2020 at a National Funeral held at the Banjul presided over by the President of the Republic His Excellency Mr Adama Barrow.
