Gambia National U-17 Team will kick off training ahead of the West Africa Football Union (WAFU) Zone A tournament, scheduled to take place in Sierra Leone, December 2020.

The Baby Scorpions will begin the weekend training session on Friday 6th November, 2020 at the National Technical Training Center in Yundum from the morning hours. Meanwhile, the team will converge again on Monday 9th November at the NTTC to train on each day in the morning until Friday to wrap up the first stage of the training session.

Ahead of the opening training session, Head Coach Abdoulie Bojang has been speaking to www.gambiaff.org and noted that the Youth U-17 team is always a developmental stage that requires guidance and coaching to be upgraded to the Senior levels. ” Already we have a team in place but we need to do Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) test and i hope that all those players pass the test”, Lie noted.

At Thursday’s warm up match to League Div Two side Samger FC at the Manjai Kunda field, the Baby Scorpions played out a One all draw a result worthy to start the training session with as Coach Lie Bojang has lined up an array of practice matches to hone the skills of his charges.
The former Steve Biko FC gaffer said he would call up a provisional list of 40 players on Friday 6th November, majority of whom have played two friendly matches with Liberia earlier on.” We will start the training with that number and slowly slicing it down ahead of the tournament“, he concluded.
