Following the announcement for the new dates of the West Africa Football Union (WAFU) Zone A U-17 tournament, the Gambia Baby Scorpions’ Head Coach Abdoulie Bojang has expressed optimism about the team’s ability in the forth coming cadet tournament.
Bojang was speaking at the team’s training ground recently where he reacted to the new dates set aside by the West Africa Football Union (WAFU) saying the dates are “favorable”.
The new dates for the tournament according to the Regional Body is slated from the 29th to the 7th February 2021. Bojang considered the period to be in their favor hence his side would adequately prepare and continue their technical preparations ahead of the tournament.
The Wafu Organising Committee recently dispatched a communique announcing the new dates for the Zone A U17 tournament which will also be used by CAF as Regional Qualifiers for the Afcon U17 tournament Morocco 2021. “The new dates would really help the Technical Team to have more time and prepare adequately hence some of our players are been affected by the MRI test”, Bojang noted. The WAFU Zone A U-17 tournament was originally scheduled to take place in December 2020 in Sierra Leone. The tournament however was postponed by WAFU citing logistical problems although a new venue is yet to be announced.
