Condolences and letters of sympathy continue to reach at Football House on the passing of late Gambia Football Association (GFA) President Mr George F Gomez which sad event occurred on Tuesday 1st September 2020.

Following FIFA President Gianni Infantino’s condolence message on the late “Uncle” George, Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Ahmad Ahmad has also dispatched similar message of sympathy expressing his sadness on the passing of the Ex Gambia National Team player, Secretary General Cum Football Association President described by many as Gambia’s “fountain of sports knowledge“.

Writing through the GFF President Lamin Kaba Bajo, Ahmad expressed his sorrowful state upon hearing the death of the former Gambia Football Association (GFA) Boss. “It is with deep sadness and sorrow that I have learned the passing away of the Gambian Legend, Mr. George Gomez, the former President of the GFA, I would like to express my utmost condolences on this sad and painful period of mourning and great grief”.

The CAF President described the late George F Gomez as a legend. “Mr. Gomez was one of a kind player and a true football legend“, Ahmad concludes.

The late George F Gomez would be laid to rest in the coming days
