In a battle of the two provincial teams participating in the national second division league for the first time ever, Farafenni based 2nd Infantry Battalion yesterday surprised B4U Kiang West of the Lower River Region (LRR) with a 2-0 win in a match played at the Jarra Soma Mini Stadium in LRR.

2nd Infantry Battalion began the week 25 match at the country’s only provincial standard mini stadium (built by The Gambia Football Federation) in 14th place, but the solid win in front of a passionate crowd at the commercial capital of the region saw them moved two places to 12th, two points adrift of their victims. B4U Kiang West despite the defeat remains at 11th position on the 16-team table with 28 points.

Meanwhile, in the second game of the day, Immigration were forced to settle for a share of the spoils with Latrikunda United following a 1-1 stalemate in what proved to be an entertaining game. The final match of the day saw Jambamjelly also played a cagey goalless draw with Young Africans.
