The National U-20 Women Team (Young Scorpions) have left for Burkina Faso ahead of their 1st leg Qualifier in the Preliminary stages of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. The team left the shores of the Gambia on Thursday 16th January 2020 in the early morning and are expected to arrive in Ouagadougou later at 16:30hrs the same day.
Speaking at their Independence Stadium training ground on Wednesday evening, Head Coach Foday Bah said the team has been working very hard during the period to intensify their plans for the first leg. ” We are working very hard and the girls are coping with the tactics as we try to intensify the training before we leave”.

Bah noted that the two warm up matches the team had with Red Scorpions and Interior FC have added more value to their technical preparations. “We had very good results and i am happy with the performance of the girls”. Commenting on the composition of the team, he said the team is mainly dominated by the core of players that played in a double International Friendly with Liberia in Banjul.  “I didn’t have time to invite many other players. I just stick to the girls that played against Liberia and only included in Ola Buwaro to adjust our depth”.
Team Manager, Arret Njie Jah thanked the GFF for the provision of all essential logistics during the team’s camping at the Football Hotel in Yundum. “We are been provided with all the basic things needed and the environment is conducive as well. We have three square meals with no injuries or reported sickness from any of the girls”. She noted the team’s welfare as one of the most imperative for the Officials and described the mood at camp as “very positive”.
Team Administrator Ebrima Nyassi earlier told the medium that travel arrangements for the team are in tact. ” We will fly out on Thursday morning from the Banjul International Airport and expect to arrive at at 16:30 local time in Ouagadougou”. He said all documents and logistics related to the team’s travel are in place.
The Match is scheduled for Saturday 18th January 2020 at the 4th August Stadium in Ouagadougou at 16:00hrs. The return leg will be a forth night later in Banjul.
