The Women’s Football Association under the auspices of the Gambia Football Federation on Thursday 23rd, February 2023, donated jerseys, markers and balls to all GFF division one and two league teams in a brief ceremony held at the Football House in Kanifing.

The GFF 4th Vice and President of the Women’s Football Association Sainabou Cham described it as a milestone achievement in women’s football development. She thanked her fellow executive members while advising that the materials be put into good use. “All this couldn’t be possible without the intervention of the GFF. We are grateful for their support. The materials are for the women teams and players, so we don’t want to see them anywhere else,” she affirmed.

The GFF General Secretary Lamin M Jassey expressed delight while assuring the teams that the Kaba led executive will continue to champion the development of women’s football. “As far as the GFF is concerned, our desire is to continue to develop women’s football to higher highs. These materials are very important and will serve as a motivation to the teams and players,” he asserted.

The GFF Senior Women’s Football Coordinator Mrs Sainey Sissoho Mbo’ge said the materials came at the right time, adding that it will go a long way in addressing the material needs of the clubs. Mrs Mbo’ge thanked the women’s football association for the gesture and urged the teams to put them into good use.

In delivering the vote of thanks, Jerreh Manneh of Brikama United expressed gratitude for the gesture and assured the WFA that they will put the materials into good use. “I want to thank the WFA for the materials because most of the teams are struggling, and this will motivate our players,” he added.

The brief ceremony was added by members of the GFF Executive, Women’s Football Association Executive Members, staff of the GFF, and Clubs. Each team was given a set of jersey (30 pieces), Markers (50 pieces), and five balls.
