Barely five hours ahead of the first Semi Finals into the WAFU Plate Cup between Gambia and Cape Verde scheduled for Tuesday 8th October 2019, Head Coach of Gambia Home based national side (CHAN) Omar Sise has been speaking on his technical preparation going into the semis with Cape Verde at 5pm today at the Stade Lat Dior in Thies.

“We are in high gear and the morals are also high” he told GFF website www.gambiaff.org from his base in Mbour. According to Sise the atmosphere at the team camp is friendly and “the boys are ready for the task”. He said the preparation is going well. Sise informed the medium that mid fielder Samba Jawneh who suffered a knock is still nursing his injury and will not be able to make into today’s semi final. “But our bench is well enough for a replacement”. He said Gibriel Sillah is back to the pitch although will not feature in today’s start list but “he is part of the team for today’s fixture”.

The Gambia was knocked out of the Cup of Nations by Ghana when they faced off each other at their opening game in Thies. While Ghana proceeded into the Cup of Nations Quarter Finals, the Gambia was paired with Mauritania in the Plate Cup Quarter Finals beating its West African neighbors 4-2 on penalties after a full time goal less draw. Today’s semi final of the Plate Cup will be at 5pm local time at the Stade Lat Dior in Thies.

Meanwhile Ghana takes on Ivory Coast in the Cup of Nations Semi Finals tonight at 8pm while Guinea and Liberia also take on each other at tomorrow’s Plate Cup second Semi Final. Hosts Senegal entertains Mali at 8pm on Wednesday to end the semis in both the Cup of Nations and Plate Cup. The Finals will be staged on the 13th October for the mega Fox Sponsored tournament.
