The West Coast Region Football Coaches Association on Saturday 29th October 2022 organised its maiden Awards Night. The event held at the Star B Theatre in Brikama brought together coaches and football stakeholders with the aim of recognising excellence of individuals and partners over the period of last season.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Bakary Bojang, President of the West Coast Region Football Association (WCRFA) highlighted the significance that The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) leadership attaches to the development of football in all its spheres.
Lamin Sambou, the President of the WCR coaches, thanked his Association for the commitment exhibited over last season while recognising the successes gained over the period. He assured the members of his executive’s continues support to the welfare of their members.
Jesper Touray the President of The Gambia Football Coaches Associatioon encouraged coaches to be registered with their regional association to gain the benefits.
The ceremony also featured members of the association been awarded with certificates of recognition including former and current executive members. Subsequent to a thorough process of nominations, the awards were strictly based on regularity of membership with the Association. It was also observed that none of the academies in the region got any award as none of the coaches regularised their status with the Association.
Delivering the closing remarks, Mr. Alagie Nyassi, GFF’s Grassroots Football Manager while congratulating the awardees remarked that the concept and the day is special.
