SOMA HOSTS FIRST EVER LEAGUE DIV TWO MATCH TODAY

The dreams have begun bearing the actualities as The Gambia Football Federation is once again priding itself for the realisation of the domestic football competitions taking a national character. Thursday the 29th November, 2018, will forever be bolded in the record books of Football House as Jarra Soma hosts a first ever national league match at the Soma Mini Stadium in the Lower River Region.

Farafenni based 2nd Infantry Battalion will cross the Yellitenda-Bambatenda ports to play Red Hawks of Banjul as the home side in week two of the second division league. The venue will serve as the home ground for the Soldiers and Kiang West Football Club and today’s match will mark the first time ever that a ground outside the Banjul-Brikama catchment area hosts a Gambia national league competitive match.

The transportation cost of the teams involved in matches in Soma will be taken care of by the GFF. This is different from the annual preparatory monies been given to all teams in the first and second division across the male and female competitions.

The latest development comes against the backdrop of the realisation of the nationalisation of the domestic league when the two aforesaid sides were promoted to the second division having won their respective regional leagues in North Bank and Lower River Regions.
