Soldiers’ Coach Expresses Satisfaction with Win

The Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) Coach Ebou Jarra has expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance following their 1-0 defeat of Brikama United at the Box Bar Mini Stadium on Tuesday in the opening game of the Late Omar Sey football tournament.

Following a barren first half, the Soldiers took the lead when Omar Johm scored from a scramble in the Brikama penalty area in the 78th minute. The Brikama keeper Musa Jatta was injured in the melee and this led to an additional time of 9 minutes at the end of regulation time but even that wasn’t enough for the hosts to secure an equaliser.

Also speaking in a post-match interview with www.gambiaff.org, Modou Lamin Nyassi the Brikama United Coach said he is content with the performance of his players despite the defeat, describing it as their best performance for the entire season. He, however, admitted that it’s always difficult for them to win at home and they’ll have to work on that.

He thanked the GFF for initiating this tournament, which he said will serve as a good test for them ahead of their participation in the CAF Champions League. Brikama will participate in the African flagship club competition by virtue of winning the domestic Gambian league earlier this month.
