Players and officials of the Senior National Team of The Gambia today, Wednesday 5th June, 2019, joined thousands of worshippers in Marrakech, Morocco, to observe Eid ul Fitr, which marks the end of this year’s Ramadan.

Dressed in their traditional African attires, the team performed the early morning prayers after which they converged at the Adam Park Marrakech Hotel & Spa Restaurant to have their breakfast at 9am. At the end of their breakfast, the team was entertained to the Berber style of celebrating the Eid with dancing and drumming performance by local Arabian culture, much to the delight of these group of young and talented footballers who also joined the celebration by jumping in excitement.

In observance of the Eid, Head Coach Tom Saintfiet gave his team an off day of training in the morning but would return to the Marrakech Stadium at 6pm for a light session. Two training sessions were held yesterday in the morning and evening as preparations intensifies ahead of Friday’s test match with the Sylli Nationale of Guinea.

All players have now arrived in camp with the exception of two late arrivals to join in the persons of Moussa Kamara and Lamin Jallow who both have engagements with their clubs before joining the National Team in Marrakech. They are expected to jet in the team hotel at Morocco’s major economic city around the weekend in time for the second and final friendly match with the Moroccan Senior National Team on June 12.

Yesterday, captains Pa Modou Jagne and Omar Colley of Sampdoria joined the rest of their teammates as well as Muhammed Badamosi and Ebrima Colley of Atalanta Bergamo as the most recent arrival. The players are in buoyant mood ahead of the two friendlies and would be gunning for victory against these two major oppositions who are both preparing for the 2019 African Cup of Nations finals.
