The Regional authorities unanimously echoed the need for the people to abide by the WHO guidelines and measures to stay safe from contracting the virus while commending the GFF for their contribution to the fight against the global menace.

The materials worth over D70,000:00 (Seventy Thousand Dalasis) include 70 hand wash buckets with head taps, Sanitizers, liquid soap, bottles of 550ml Dettol, Bottles of Madar bleach, bottles of 500ml hand sanitizers and other disinfectants amongst others were shared amongst the Seven Regional Football Associations which are further donated to the Local authorities in the presence of Regional Governors/Mayors/Mayoress, Health Representatives, Sports Chairpersons, National Disaster Management Agency, Area Council and other stakeholders.

Speaking at the handing over ceremony on Monday at Football House in Kanifing, GFF President Lamin Kaba Bajo said the materials are part of the Federation’s contribution to the fight against Covid-19. “This is one of a series of our contribution to the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic which is real and serious as it is affecting our livelihood”. Mr Bajo said the pandemic is a serious matter hence FIFA and CAF have both cancelled or postponed all football activities since the outbreak of the virus. “As you are all aware, we have already made some video clips to sensitize the public particularly footballers on the new virus and the measures put in place by the government and the Health authorities”. Mr Bajo used the occasion to call on the youths to desist from playing unrecognized ‘Warga Warga‘ football. “We are aware that series of football activities are currently going on in some quarters although not organized by the GFF or any of its affiliates but we urged the youths to desist from coming together for any football activity because the GFF as the main official body of football in the country has suspended the National League and the reason for the suspension is to prevent the potential spread of Covid-19 pandemic
