The wait is over as the Minister of Youth and Sports Hon Henry Gomez has finally handed over a consignment of set of jerseys and other football equipment to the Gambia Football Federation.

The brief ceremony was held on Wednesday March 14th at the President’s International Award ( PIA ) in Bakau.

The set of jerseys meant for use by the Gambia National Team ( Scorpions ) were supplied to the GFF by former National Team sponsors Multimedia Gateway International ( MGI ) in May 2017 but were withheld by the Hon Minster for reasons unknown to the Football leadership. However, as pressure intensifies for the Ministry to account for the jerseys and other items contained in the consignment, an impromptu announcement was relayed for the final hand over of the items to the rightful beneficiaries, GFF.

In handing over the items at the PIA Main hall, Executive Director of the National Sports Council Marcel Mendy on behalf of the Ministry briefly stated the purpose of the jerseys for use by the Gambia Football Federation which according to him also includes cones, bibs, bags and balls.

GFF General Secretary Lamin M Jassey in receiving the items thanked the Ministry for handing over the items finally. ‘ It is timely as The Gambia is preparing for an international game with Central African Republic next week‘. He said the items would be forwarded to the Executive Committee of the GFF who will now decide its usage.
