Following the completion of the domestic Gambian league and the FF Cup competition at the weekend, The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) will kick off the maiden edition of the ate Alhaji Omar Sey tournament slated to be held from the 25th June to 3rd July.

The tournament will be played by the top eight teams in league one who are divided into two groups of four teams each playing in a round robin format. The winners in each group will face off in the final scheduled for 3rd July, 2019 at the Independence Stadium.

The late Omar Sey tournament was conceived by the GFF Executive Committee and approved by it’s stakeholders at the Club Management Meeting. The initiative is applauded by many as a way of remembering one of the icons of football development in The Gambia.

The late Alhaji Omar Sey was a former Gambia Football Association President, ex-Foreign Affairs Minister of The Gambia, and retired FIFA referee. He has been hailed as a baron for the growth and development of football in The Gambia.

Group B: Real de Banjul; Fortune; Hawks and The Gambia Ports Authority
