Gambian international Lamin Jallow has joined Hungarian top-flight side MOL Fehevar on loan from Vicenza with an option to make the move permanent at the end of the current agreement.
Jallow, 26, formerly of Real de Banjul and Bakau United left his home for his professional adventure in Italy when he joined Chievo Verona in 2014. He made his debut in the Serie A but spent the last four and a half years in the Serie B at Trapani, Cesena, Salernitana and Vicenza, where he scored a combined 28 goals and 12 assists in 128 league appearances. In the 2020/2021 season, he scored 3 goals and 2 assists in 21 games for Vicenza, scoring in the last game of the season.
“The coaching staff had already been watching Lamin, but after I joined Vidi, the process slowed down a bit, as I wanted to make sure that he had the qualities that could be useful for the team. We believe that his speed and physical presence will definitely add a lot to our attacking game, as well as increasing the variation options for the head coach,” Fehevar Director István Sallói told the Club’s official website.
“I’m happy to be here, I know that I’m joining a team with a great history and a great ambition for the next period and I hope I can be an active part of that! I am looking forward to meeting and celebrating with the fans in the stadium, I believe that with their help we will be able to perform well,” Jallow, who will wear the number 30 shirt said.
“My teammate at Vicenza was Davide Lanzafame, who told me a lot about the Hungarian championship, and I know that there are good teams in the league, there are no easy games to play. My family is arriving in Székesfehérvár next week, and we want to settle in with my 3-year-old daughter, 5-month-old son and wife. Of course, they are very excited about this new period, as I am.”
Scorpions Coach Tom Saintfiet told www.gambiaff.org that the latest move in Jallow’s career is a good one for him. “I think it’s a good move from the Serie B to Hungary. The Hungarian league is not at the same level as in Italy but he’s going to a top team that plays in the Europa League and were champions. So, I hope it’s a successful one for him and that he gets a lot of playing time,” the Belgian said.
