The women’s regional third division league of the North Bank Region entered the third week of matches over the weekend with Upper Badibou extending their lead at the top of Group A following their top of the table clash win over Central Badibou.

Having both entered this weekend’s matches on four points apiece, it was Upper that added another three to accumulate seven while Central remains in second place on the same number of points they started the weekend with. Sabatch Sanjal is third on three points while Lower Badibou is at the bottom of the table on a solitary point.

Elsewhere, in Group B, Mansawally secured their third straight win with victory over Mbankam. They have a maximum nine points, scoring 11 goals in the process. Upper Niumi is second on six points while Mbankam remains in third on three and Jokadou is yet to find their winning boots, struggling at the foot of the table without a point or a goal and conceding a whopping eight in the process.

The eight teams, that are participating in the league, are divided into two groups of four each. The championship will be played in the form of home and away legs with the two group winners playing in a regional final to decide the champion in a match to be played at the Farafenni Mini Stadium. The regional champions will then play in a triangular playoff with the other four provincial regional champions to determine those teams to qualify for the national women’s second division league.

Perhaps it is still too early to predict what will happen from at the end of the regular season, but what is certain is that there is much more to look out for in these regions and every game would definitely be a must watch with scintillating performances gearing up for glory and promotion to the elites.
