After a day’s break, the domestic first division league resumed on Sunday with Team Rhino getting their first ever taste of top flight football by sharing the spoils in a goalless stalemate with Gambia Ports Authority at the Late Ousman Saho Stadium in Old Yundum.

Elsewhere on Sunday, Hawks began their new campaign with a 2-0 defeat of Banjul United in a match played at Bakau’s Independence Stadium. Modou Camara and Baboucarr Faal scored the goals to ensure the three points.

Wallidan secured a similar scoreline defeat of Elite United with Abdoulie Manneh giving them an early lead before Muhammed Sarr ensured the win from the penalty spot. Manneh, Alagie Gibba and John Mendy all came closed to adding a third for the Blues but failed to convert their chances.

The final matches of week one wraps up on Monday as two new comers take on each other when Falcons meet Steve Biko in the 5pm kickoff at the Independence Stadium. In the late match, champions Fortune Petroleum will begin the defence of their title when they host Real de Banjul in a titanic battle in from of the floodlights with that match kicking off at 7pm.
