The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) will tomorrow at midday (12pm) unveil new coach Tom Saintfiet to the public in a press conference to be held at the Football House in Kanifing. Mr. Saintfiet signed an initial nine-month contract that will take him through Gambia’s participation in the 2019 AFCON qualifiers, starting with a home game against Algeria in September.

The GFF Executive led by second vice president and executive member, Mr. Ebou Faye and Mr. Bakary K. Jammeh respectively, as well as General Secretary Lamin M. Jassey and Sang Ndong the Technical Director, were at the Quandrangle in Banjul where Saintfiet was introduced to the Minister of Youth and Sports, Hadrammeh Sidibeh.

Minister Sidibeh reassured that his Ministry will give the Coach all the support he needs to advance Gambian football, while advising him to also involve in the development of the domestic game at the grassroots level by sharing his experience with all. He also reaffirmed the Ministry and Gambia Government’s support to the GFF in its entire development agenda.

The Minister, a former footballer himself, said he is very passionate and hopeful about the opportunities that lie ahead for Gambian football and sports in general. The GFF will also submit a costed programme of the Coach for possible funding.

Meanwhile, the GFF will pay the salary of the coach and other associated costs, while The Gambia Government tries to secure funding to take over its responsibilities and all other necessary costs related to the coach and National Teams.
