The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) wishes to inform its members and the general public that sequel to their suspension from the GFF in August this year, the following five people have been expelled from the GFF with immediate effect: Mr. Abdoulie Njie (Star); Mr. Kabba Ceesay; Mr. Musa K. Jawara; Ms. Mariama Jobarteh, and Mr. Essa Jallow.

This action is necessitated by the quintet’s decision to take an internal football matter to the Normal Court (High Court), and not have it withdrawn until judgment was pronounced, a serious violation of Articles 65.1, 65.2 and 65.3 of the GFF Constitution, which reads:

65.1: The GFF, it’s Members, Players, Officials and match and player’s agents shall not take any dispute to the ordinary courts unless specifically provided for in these Statutes and FIFA regulations. Any disagreement may be submitted to the jurisdiction of GFF, FIFA, CAF, or WAFU.

65.2: The GFF shall have jurisdiction on internal disputes, i.e. disputes between parties belonging to the GFF. FIFA shall have jurisdiction on international disputes, i.e. disputes between parties belonging to different Associations or Confederations.

65.3: A member of the GFF who or that violates this provision shall be suspended from the GFF pending the withdrawal of the matter before the courts. If the matter is not withdrawn from the court before judgment is delivered, the member shall be expelled from the GFF.

The GFF further wishes to reassure its members and the general public that it remains resolute and determined in ensuring that it sticks to its core mandate of ensuring sustainable football development in the country and to reaffirm its commitment in ensuring the dispensation of justice without fear or favor and ill will or affection.
