Barely 24 hours ahead of the much awaited return leg of the Gambia’s Afcon D Fixture at home to Gabon scheduled for Monday 16th November 2020, GFF 2nd Vice President Mr Ebou Faye has extended words of encouragement on behalf of the GFF Executive to the Gambia National Team (Scorpions).

Speaking at their Ocean Bay Hotel at Cape Point, Mr Faye said the GFF, government of the Gambia and the football family are anxiously waiting for the match and as such, all hands should be on deck for the Scorpions to put up a respectable and winnable performance on Monday. “We believe in your ability and everyone in the country wants us to make history and win tomorrow because it is good for our football and good for yourself“, he told Saintfiet’s charges.

The GFF Head of Competitions noted that Gambia government have put up resources to make the Scorpions trip successful. “Government has done everything they could and have gone extra mile which we appreciate very well as a Federation“. He said the era of amateur football should be a thing of the past while “we should now move to focus on professionalizing our football and that is why government has chartered a Special Flight to ease travel nightmares in this game“. He noted the football federation’s special attention to the match describing as a “very important for our desire to qualify and that is why we are all fully committed to this match“.

Mr Faye further encouraged the lads to keep up the spirit of hard work, dedication and self believe while noting that a win for the Scorpions on Monday would mean a lot to their career and the nation at large.

Present at the briefing was GFF Executive Committee Member and Vice Chairman of the Finance Committee Mr Sadibou Kamaso and Team Manager Ousman (Cho) Drammeh.

The Scorpions will face off the Panthers on Monday 16th November 2020 at the Independence Stadium in Bakau at 16:00hrs in the return leg of the Afcon Group D Qualifiers following their 2-1 away loose in Franceville,, Gabon on Thursday 12th November 2020.
