The Gambia Football Federation has kicked off the CAF C’ License Coaching Course at the National Technical Training Center in Yundum with the official opening held on Monday 14th December, 2020.
This is sequel to the closure of entries as announced in all media platforms for interested coaches with the required qualifications to apply. The first batch of the program brings together 30 participants from GFF League Div One and Two.
Speaking at the start of the week long event, GFF Executive Committee Sadibou Kamaso who deputized for the GFF President Lamin Kaba Bajo first congratulated the GFF Technical Department for the initiative and felicitated the participants for their show up to the course. Mr Kamaso said capacity building for all actors in football is key to the GFF and as such “the GFF plays a lot of emphasis on building the capacities of our personnel and that is manifested in our CARM (Coaches, Administrators, Referees and Medics) project”. He noted with emphasis the strong will of the GFF Executive to realizing that knowledge gained from capacity building programs are meant to further help the football family and the personnel to strengthen the output of the activities. “We want to see as many coaches as possible not only in the national leagues but international scenes too. Let us not relax upon acquiring the license but let’s endeavor to do more because it is our pride to see our own on top of the international scenes which should be the desire of you all“. Mr Kamaso who also doubles as the Secretary General of Hawks FC concluded by expressing gratitude to the participants for showing will and interest while wishing them a successful Course period.

Speaking earlier, GFF Technical Director Sang Ndong who also serves as Course Director said such courses have been absent for the part five years. “FIFA/CAF will no more be sending instructors to other countries and subsequent to intensive training of local instructors, the Course will now be conducted by qualified instructors within the country” He said the course period will be massive hence the need to cover a lot of thematic areas. “We’ve got a massive task ahead and I urge you all to take this course with utmost seriousness” TD Ndong noted. He said in spite of the regular CAF Coaching licenses training, the GFF has organized D License course that produced about 300 coaches.
Other speakers include President of the Gambia Football Coaches Association Pa Suwareh Faye who also congratulated the participants for been the cohort of the first batch of the training program. Mr Faye also hailed the GFF for sticking to their development agenda and assured Football House of the Coaches Association’s resolve to supporting the ideals of the Kaba led Executive.
The course instructors include former Scorpions Coach Alagie Sillah, Coach Alagie Amat Cham, former U-17 Asst Coach Lamin Sambou and GFF Medical Officer Kalipha Manneh.
