The Gambia Football Coaches Association (GFCA) in partnership with The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) on Tuesday decorated the U-20 Head Coach Mattar M’Boge for his achievements since his appointment into the role.

The presentation ceremony was held at the Football House in Kanifing and brought together dignitaries from the Association, members of the GFF Executive, staff and other sporting organisations.

In his opening remarks, Pa Suwareh Fye, President of the Association, acknowledged M’Boge’s achievements, describing him as consistent. “We are very proud to have such hardworking young personnel as a coach and thus the need to motivate him in his endeavors,” he said.

Lamin Kaba Bajo, President of the GFF, highlighted the significant achievements made by Mattar M’Boge since his appointment, describing him as a winner. “Mattar is known for his professionalism, high level of discipline, passion and competence. Therefore, we are grateful to the Coaches Association for complementing the efforts of the federation.”

Mr. Bajo thanked the GFCA for the initiative, adding that this will go a long way in motivating coaches and enhance quality in the development of the game. While appreciating the partnership with the Coaches Association, Mr. Bajo commended them for their efforts in football developments, such as the ongoing capacity building course for coaches, which he said is impacting in the game by producing quality from the domestic leagues.

Receiving the awards, which include a trophy, a tactical board and his four medals, an emotional Mattar M’Boge expressed gratitude to the Association and the GFF. He catalogued the story of his career, leaving the United Kingdom to serve his home country in 2014, a decision he described as honorable and thanked the Federation for giving him the opportunity to reach this far. “I’m honored and privileged to work in my country and these achievements couldn’t have been made by myself alone but credit goes to these talented players and supportive staff and the Federation, my beloved wife, mother, my late father and all Gambians for the team work,” he said. M’Boge further thanked the GFF President for his great leadership and support despite the huge responsibilities.

Delivering the closing remarks, Mr. Ebou Faye, second Vice President of GFF, expressed gratitude to the GFCA and coaches of the domestic leagues for producing the needed players and encouraged more to join the Association. He described M’Boge as one of the best coaches that The Gambia has produced and encouraged him to work harder. “Football requires collective efforts and our objective is to set the structures and standards for the quality and development of the beautiful game,” he affirmed.
