The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) has lined up two international friendly matches at home to Ethiopia involving the two countries’ National Women’s Teams scheduled for 15th and 18th June, 2019 at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.

This development was recently announced at a joint GFF Executive and Women’s National Team Technical Committee meeting held at the Football House on Thursday June 6 where the 2nd Vice Chairman and Head Competitions Ebou Faye made the disclosure.

“The purpose of this meeting is to hand over the task of this test games to the Technical Staff to continue building the National Team. We want to reap the benefits of what have been put into the junior teams to the senior level.” Faye said the Technical Staff is been tasked further to put all prerequisites for the Technical aspect of the game while also maintaining that the focus of the Kaba-led Executive is to engage all categories of our national teams and to improve on our rankings. “Prepare the team, maintain discipline, commit yourselves to the game and improve on our ranking.”

GFF 3rd Vice President Lang Tombong Tamba and Executive Member Sadibou Kamaso both hailed the National Women’s Scorpions for their trust worthiness and confidence reposed on them and challenged them to regroup hence “there is no doubt about your abilities”. Mr Kamaso further noted that with FIFA Forward 2.0 conditions, all National Teams must at least engage in four international matches before the funds could be accessed and thus “engaging Ethiopia in two test matches is one of that reason.”

The Team will be coached by Mariama Sowe and assisted by Abdoulie Bojang.
