The Gambia Women’s Under 20 were denied the double by the visiting Liberians when the two sides face off in the final of a two-match international friendly series at Bakau’s Independence Stadium.

The Gambia recovered from their poor first half to dominate the second period creating numerous chances but were wasteful in front of goal.
Gambia’s Assistant Coach Omar Cham said he is very satisfied with the performance and added they were just not lucky. “I am very happy with the performance of the girls. We made nine changes to the first eleven and still we had a very good game; we were just unlucky not to score,” he said while speaking in a post-match interview.
For her part, Famata Deah, Assistant Coach of Liberia said she is very excited that they won. “I learnt from our mistakes in the first game that is why we won today. My team played very well and got a clean sheet, we really needed to win this game today,” she emphasised.
