Following the pairings in which the Gambia and Burkina Faso are pitted together for the start of the preliminaries in the month of  January, Head Coach Foday Bah and his charges have resumed training at the National Technical Training Center in Yundum. Speaking to the GFF website www.gambiaff.org, Bah said “training is intensifying well and we are doing our best ahead of the first leg“. He said the team started training last week ” but we temporarily stopped because of the breaks for the New Year“.

Twenty Five (25) players are currently with the team on training selected from the different clubs that are within the age bracket. Bah however noted that one key player that could be missing is Sarjo Dukanda who is plagued by knee injury and ” would not be able to make the trip“. He said the team mainly will comprise the crop of players that featured in the warm up match at home to Liberia. ” But we have a new star player Ola Buwaro who will join the team“.
The team according to Coach Bah will concentrate on the fitness level, tactical game approach and will do a few practice matches. “We have a short period of time to prepare as intensive training started today. So we will concentrate fully because we have only two full weeks to go
He noted that the players are ready to the task and determined to get the Gambia the desired results. He thanked the GFF for the support extended. “The Federation is working on the logistics and travel arrangements and they visit the players at training on regular basis which motivate the players and us as technicians”.
