Falcons Football Club of Abuko became the sole leaders of the second division at the end of week 16 after responding to Samger’s setback with a dominant 4-2 win over B4U Kiang West.

The two sides began the second round of the league levelled on 31 points apiece whereas the Cherno Samba Academy Boys led on goal difference but after Samger could only draw 3-3 with Team Rhino on Friday, Lamin Sanneh’s charges responded with an emphatic statement win against the free scoring Kiang West a day later.

With the win, Falcons, who are just playing only their second season in the national league pyramid have established a two-point cushion at the summit of the 16-team division.

In a week that saw a remarkable 22 goals scored across eight different fixtures, the first match day of the round saw early season strugglers Young Africans continue their recent resurgent with a pulsating 3-2 defeat of PSV Wellimgara at the Late Ousman Saho Football Field in Old Yundum. The victory saw them moved to ninth place with 17 points and still with a game in hand while Wellingara remains three points ahead of them despite the setback.

Meanwhile, Saturday also saw Latrikunda United and Immigration playing out a goalless draw in Basori while Serrekunda East Bi and Jam City drew 1-1 at the Late Ousman Saho field on Sunday.
