Barely a week to go into Gambia’s much anticipated game in the preliminary Qualifier of the 2022 World Cup at home to Angola scheduled for Friday 6th September, 2019, the Chairman of GFF Events Management Committee (EMC ) William Abraham, has highlighted the importance attached to the forth coming match at the Independence Stadium in Bakau
The Committee charged with logistical arrangements of the game is currently on a publicity campaign to abreast the public about arrangements of the game as football stakeholders across all spheres of life continue to show much following in their national team ( Scorpions ).
“We are on top of arrangements although still working round the clock to attend to every logistics needed for the game”. Willy posited that the match is already a sell out and does expect that the stadium would be fill to capacity on the day. “Its a very big game because this is the national team and playing against Angola with young players at our disposal will attract a lot of people to come over”.
Commenting on ticket sales, the EMC Head disclosed that match tickets would only be sold in advance and thus no tickets would be sold at the Stadium gates on the match day.”This is a FIFA game and no tickets will be available for sale at the gates”. He said the Committee will soon finalize with its partners the specific outlets for the sale of match tickets. He urged fans to turn up early to purchase their tickets to avoid rush at the gates. Match tickets for entry as he announced are VIP D1000:00, Covered pavilions at D200:00 and D100:00 for Uncovered pavilions.
On security matters, Willy confirmed that request is been sent to the Gambia Police Force and its sister services for maximum provision of security. “There will be security provided and as protocol has it, the stadium will be well secured but we are also making arrangements to have a beef up of extra security personnel for the outside area of the Stadium”, he noted. He said the Security agencies are partners in football and have been very supportive to all GFF engagements.
Willy called on all football stakeholders to comport themselves within the best norms of football and to avoid coming into the stadium with items not warranted for. He said Security would administer searching people with items that are not allowed into the stadium. He finally assured the public of a game worthy to be proud of at the end of the day.
Meanwhile Scorpions Coach Tom Sainfiet will announce the final list of players at a Press Conference on Thursday 29th August at Football House in Kanifing and to further unveil his technical preparations for the double header scheduled for Friday 6th September at home in Banjul and 10th September 2019 away in Luanda for the return leg
