CAF Inter-Club Competition Opponents for Armed Forces and Hawks Unveiled

Armed Forces and Hawks will face Zambian and Nigerian opposition after the draw for the Total CAF Champions League and Total CAF Confederations Cup was concluded.

GFF First Division champions Armed Forces (GAF) are drawn to face Zanaco of Zambia in the preliminary round of the Champions League whilst FF Cup champions Hawks are due to face Akwa United of Nigeria in the Confederations Cup.

The draw for the qualifying round of the CAF Inter-clubs Competitions in 2018 was held at the CAF Headquarters in Cairo, Egypt.

GAF will be away in their first leg encounter scheduled to take place between 9-11 in February before hosting the return leg between 16-18. During the same dates, Hawks will travel to Nigeria for their first leg before playing the role of hosts in the second leg.

If GAF progress past the Zambians then they will face the winner of Bantu (Lesotho) and Mbabane Swallows (Swaziland) for a place in the lucrative CAF Champions League group stages.

If Hawks progress past the Nigerian outfit they will face either Al-Ittihad (Libya) or Sahel (Niger) in order to seal a place in the play-off round for the group stages of the CAF Confederations Cup.

In 2017, Gambia Ports Authority overcame Sewe Sports in the preliminary round before bowing out to AS Vita and finally Al-Hilal Ubayyid in the Confederations Cup play-offs.
