Yusupha Bobb Signs for Piacenza

Midfielder Yusupha Bobb has joined Piacenza Calcio ahead of the new Italian football season, the Serie C Club announced over the weekend.

Bobb, 25, is a Gambian international and having spent his formative years as a footballer with boyhood club Hawks, he joined Chievo Verona of Serie A in 2015. He subsequently moved to third tier side Cittadela where he made a scoring debut, grabbing two goals in a 15-0 annihilation of Potenza in the Coppa Italia.

A serious leg injury hampered his progress and after several loan spells with teams in the Italian Serie C, he finally left Chievo at the end of 2019. He joined Lecco before spending the second half of last season at Livorno.

Having made a full recovery, Bobb’s latest move has presented him with the perfect opportunity to finally begin to fulfill the promises he showed as a youngster.

Reacting to Yusupha’s latest move, Head Coach Tom Saintfiet told the GFF Media that he was very happy with the latest journey in his career. He added that Piacenza had spoken to him me about the player a while ago, noting that it is naturally a good move.

“Piacenza is a club with a huge history; they played Serie A, Serie B and they’re very ambitious in Serie C. It’s a traditional club with a lot of fans and its good now officially that he signs with them and it will be a good competitive team to play for him,” the Belgian told www.gambiaff.org of the move.

“After our camp in Turkey, he [Yusupha] gave a very good impression just like he did two years ago against Benin and hopefully he stays fit but I’m very happy with his move to Piacenza and hopefully they can compete for promotion to Serie B.”
