The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) in collaboration with the German Olympic Federation and The Gambia’s Ministry of Youth and Sports today began a daylong Women’s Football Festival and Symposium at the National Technical Training Center in Old Yundum.
The event, that is currently underway, started with a “Girls Festival” which brought together 50 orphans who are being introduced to basic football skills. The kids are being taught how to control a ball, dribbling, shooting, passing and goal scoring technics of the game.
Watching closely at the sidelines of the festival are members of the German Olympic Federation, representatives from the Ministries of The Gambia, GNOC and Executive members of the GFF led by President Lamin Kaba Bajo.
The festival that is expected to last up to 12pm will be preceded with a lunch break after which there will be a symposium starting from 2pm to 6pm, where various speakers will speak on the importance of the festival. There will be presentations on different topics ranging from women football over the world, EU-Gender equality, women football in the Gambia, active career to questions and answers with different facilitators for each of the topics.
