Statement By Referee Ebrima Jallow

After the revelation of a bribery scandal by a Ghanaian investigative journalist Anas Aremayaw Anas that involves me in a video shown on Wednesday June 6th, I Ebrima Jallow have decided to step aside and excuse myself from all Refereeing related matters until the alleged bribery investigation is complete by the competent authorities.

My stepping aside after this revelation is my personal decision and I have further informed my superiors Gambia Football Federation, Gambia Football Referees Association and Gambia Football Referees Committee about the decision.

I am not in any moment under due pressure to step aside but to act within the armpits of professionalism and acting on my own conscience while I am been named and filmed in the video, to do away from my career until all matters of investigation are completed.

I finally apologize to the general public for my act of gross misconduct causing me a disruption to a sport I cherish. My reserved apologies go to the Gambia Football Federation that has always trusted me since the beginning of my career, my colleagues at the Referees Association and Committee especially the junior ones that have looking up to me as references and role models.

While I pardon you all once again for the worst trouble of Football scandal in our history, I wish to announce once again that I have excused myself and step aside from all refereeing matters pending completion of the investigation.

I thank you all for your patience and seek your support to accompany me while I rest steadily in this troubling time.

Mr. Ebrima Jallow
