Stadium General Manager Assures Readiness To Host WC Qualifier

Gambia’s forth coming match in the opening of the World Cup 2022 preliminary Qualifier is increasingly gaining attention as stakeholders from all spheres of life speaks of its importance and match arrangements ahead of the much anticipated home leg for the Scorpions.
The main logistical arrangements of the match which principally includes the ground at the Independence Stadium is always the center of attention before and during the event. Thus ahead of the match, Manager of the Independence Stadium Ebou Faye has also been speaking of the readiness the ground reserves for the successful hosting of the home leg. Faye noted that the Stadium is ready in its usual form to host the event. In fact, “preparations are at very advance stage and we have put in place all the logistical arrangements for the game”, he said.

Faye serving as GFF 2nd Vice President and responsible for GFF Competitions however reminded the general public that the Stadium has reached an old age though and thus would not be allowed to cater for more than what it can accommodate. “The Stadium capacity is 25 000 but the GFF is always advise to sell tickets not more than a capacity of 24500”.
Visiting the stadium in the recent past, laborers and technicians have been seen to be at work at different sections all to ensure a successful hosting of the event. The grass pitch is at a playable condition and is been treated on a daily basis to satisfy the players and conform to playable pitch conditions across the continent.
Commenting on the challenges confronted during the period, Faye noted mainly the old nature of the facility and appealed to the general for understanding that the Stadium cannot accommodate all that want to watch the match. “As a result, we always advise the GFF to be careful of over crowding the stadium and they have been very mindful of that because its a potential for disaster”.
Faye who is also a CAF Match Coordinator emphasizes on the importance of security saying ” its an essential provision for a successful match. Adequate security should always be provided to ensure security of life and property”. He concluded to advise fans and the general public to comport within the confines of football management and to further abide by the guidance of the GFF Organising Committee during the match day proceedings.
